The developer behind Twinbrook Quarter announced Tuesday that Wegmans has signed a lease to anchor the retail there.

B.F. Saul Co. (NYSE: BFS) kept its online reveal short.

“This is just the first of many retail, dining and entertainment features that we will bring to this new destination,” the company said, noting the store will sit at the corner of Halpine Road and Rockville Pike. “We are looking forward to continuing our work with the City of Rockville, our neighboring communities and Wegmans to make Twinbrook Quarter a new amenity-rich community for decades to come.”

The 18-acre, 11-building Twinbrook Quarter amounts to the redevelopment of traditional strip shopping centers along Rockville Pike at the Twinbrook Metro station. The mixed-use project, as proposed to the city of Rockville last August, will consist of 1,865 multifamily units, 431,440 square feet of office, 472,950 square feet of retail, a 9,000-square-foot entertainment venue, a landscaped promenade and a 1.1-acre central park.

It is unclear when the Wegmans would open.

In Greater Washington, Wegmans operates stores in Woodbridge, Gainesville, the Kingstowne area, Fairfax, Lanham, Dulles, Leesburg and Germantown. A 120,000-square-foot Chantilly location is scheduled to open this summer. Wegmans has a deal to open a smaller, urban-format store in Alexandria’s Hoffman Town Center in 2020, a store on the former Fannie Mae campus in Northwest D.C., and another in Tysons on the Capital One headquarters campus. It may also open in southern Loudoun County and Reston in future years.
